Full Moon in Scorpio: Coming Home to Yourself

Woman in all black surrenders to wind

The Scorpio Full Moon arrives on May 12 — deep, mysterious, and impossible to ignore. It moves through the sky at 22°, directly across from the grounded Taurus Sun, illuminating one of the most potent polarities in the zodiac: death and life, soul and body, transformation and stability.

If you have personal planets in the later degrees of the fixed signs (Taurus, Scorpio, Leo, Aquarius), this energy will be impacting you quite personally.  Find out if this is you by signing up to the Lunar Alchemy Collective, where you’ll get full access to this article and instructions on pulling up your chart & learning how the energy is affecting you.  If not, you will still be affected by this energy wherever you have these degrees in your chart.

Death Precedes New Life

This axis always invites a reckoning. Not the kind that burns everything down for drama’s sake—but the kind that reveals, with sobering clarity, what must be surrendered so that something real, rooted, and alive can bloom in its place.  Scorpio always reveals hidden energy leaks - places where we give our power away by offering our magic without reciprocation. These voids prevent new life from taking shape in our lives - and must be reclaimed in order to manifest a life of alignment and abundance.

Over the last month, I’ve felt this energy shape my own life deeply as a Scorpio rising and Venus. Traveling through Spain and the UK—lands that sit right on my personal North and South Node astrocartography lines—I felt something ancient rise. Like I was walking through lifetimes of patterns, watching myself meet the familiar temptation to give away my power just to feel seen. And yet… this time was different. This time, I didn’t abandon myself. This time, I found wholeness. That’s the essence of this lunation. Staying. With ourselves. With our truth. With our bodies.

Scorpio is the archetype of transformation. It rules the underworld, the soul, the sacred contracts that live beneath our conscious awareness. It wants to merge, to penetrate, to strip everything down to the bone so that what’s left is real. It teaches us that intimacy requires risk. That becoming who we truly are often means letting die who we thought we had to be.

But Taurus, Scorpio’s opposite, reminds us that transformation without stability is dangerous. That if we long to be met in the depths, we must also cultivate the ground that can hold us there. Taurus is the soft moss underfoot, the safety of slowness, the presence of breath in the body. It is where we come back to ourselves after the storm.

This Full Moon highlights that tension. Many of us have been chasing soul-deep connection—longing to be mirrored, understood, seen in our wholeness - especially with recent activations of Venus and Mars in the sky. But in that pursuit, some of us have lost touch with the body. With the signals it sends. With the knowing that if connection costs us our center, it’s not intimacy—it’s karmic entanglement.  And now, we may be understanding that our magic & depth is only worthy of sharing in places that can safely hold, witness and mirror it.
