The most powerful eclipse of 2024 arrives at 2:20 PM EST in the sign of Aries. Happening on a New Moon in the first sign of the zodiac, this energy is an initiation into individuality. Kicking off an intensely transformative month and lunar cycle, many endings and beginnings will take place over the next cycle collectively.
Solar (or New Moon) Eclipses are times of initiation and new beginnings. Simultaneously, every new beginning is also an ending - which means that in order for new life to be created, something else must give way to clear space. As the North Node is highlighted by the eclipse, we are nudged (perhaps not so lightly) onto our soul’s evolutionary path, which requires courage and a good dose of discomfort.
Eclipses are Alchemical in Nature
As the Moon (the subconscious) blocks out the Sun (the conscious), the illuminating power of the Sun simultaneously shines a light on the dark side of the Moon; the subconscious most-buried within our psyche. Historically, these events brought fear, as they prevented the life-giving energy of the Sun from reaching Earth. We now know that, despite the drastic events that can energetically occur during eclipses, they’re not a threat to our existence ... or are they? Eclipses may not be a threat to life literally, but they’re a threat to our lives as we have known them, because they catalyze huge leaps in spiritual evolution. Being forced to experience darkness momentarily is a powerful invitation to turn within, bring our attention to our own shadows, & to have the courage to confront something we usually don’t acknowledge or don’t want to see. With the light of the Sun obstructed from reaching the Earth, we are forced to turn within, facing our shadows & finding our own inner source of light. The divine union of yin & yang within. The alchemy of turning dark into light.
Looking Back to Move Forward
As the Sun and Moon align with the North Node & Chiron in Aries, some of our deepest wounding may be rising to the surface. We have been experiencing this activation of Chiron in Aries and the North Node throughout the beginning of 2024 already, but it is now coming into focus as it is illuminated by the luminaries. The Sun and Moon are now speaking the same language, allowing us to see the ways we may fear asserting ourselves in order to maintain attachment. Conversely, our patterns may have us avoiding attachment and relationships to maintain our independence and authenticity. Whatever end of the spectrum you find yourself on, now is the time to find the balance by having the courage to look to the past, as it is our earliest conditioning and experiences of attachment that have either forced us to abandon authenticity or attachment.Â
With every eclipse, we have opposing signs playing into the energy; currently those being Libra & Aries. It’s important to remember that each opposing energy contains the seed of its polar opposite within. To step into the empowered energy of the Aries North Node, we have to collectively raise the Libra South Node to the highest vibration possible. This means keeping justice, harmony, diplomacy, fairness and love in our hearts, without abandoning ourselves in the process.
