Taurus New Moon: Returning to the Earth Within

The Taurus New Moon arrives on May 16th at 1:00pm PST/4:00pm EST, meeting the Sun at 25 degrees of Taurus.

After the emotional intensity and symbolic death-rebirth themes of the Scorpio Full Moon earlier this month, this lunation feels like a new breath after a storm... a return to earth, to body, to steadiness, and to the quiet intelligence of nature and its cycles.

New Moons are always portals of renewal.

They mark the beginning of a new lunar cycle; a moment where the sky grows dark, where the Moon disappears from view, inviting us inward before new growth begins. While Full Moons illuminate and culminate, New Moons ask us to empty, to cleanse, soften, and to release what is no longer aligned before we consciously plant new seeds.

This Taurus New Moon feels especially connected to that process... because before we can truly call in abundance, fertility, love, stability, pleasure, or deeper alignment… we are being asked to release the patterns rooted in low self-worth that prevent us from receiving them. The scarcity stories, the overworking, settling, fear of taking up space, and the belief that we must prove our worth through productivity, performance, perfectionism, or self-sacrifice.

Taurus reminds us that worthiness is inherent. The flowers do not earn their right to bloom... the Earth does not apologize for its beauty and nature does not rush to prove itself worthy of existence. Neither should we.

Taurus & The Wisdom of the Bull

Ruled by Venus, Taurus is deeply connected to the body, the Earth, pleasure, nourishment, resources, sensuality and self-worth. The archetype of the Bull teaches us about grounded strength and rootedness. The Bull moves slowly because it understands that what is sustainable cannot be rushed. Taurus energy reminds us that true growth is built through patience, consistency, devotion, and trust in natural timing.

In a world addicted to speed, Taurus reconnects us to the sacred pace of life itself. The seed beneath the soil does not panic because it cannot yet see the sun. The Earth trusts its own cycles... so this is part of the medicine available to us now. To remember that growth, healng and trust take time and building a life aligned with our values takes time. After the symbolic shedding of the Scorpio Full Moon, this Taurus New Moon reminds us that there is always life after death. Decay becomes compost and endings become fertile ground. Grief softens into wisdom and what falls apart creates space for something more aligned to emerge.

Taurus New Moon Conjunct Uranus in Gemini

Despite the grounding nature of Taurus, this lunation unfolds amidst enormous energetic change. The New Moon sits close to Uranus (recently in Gemini), while Uranus simultaneously forms a powerful trine to Pluto in Aquarius. We are living through a collective restructuring of ideas, thoughts, words, networks, communication and consciousness itself. Things are changing rapidly. Our conditioned thought patterns surrounding these themes are being challenged to evolve and break free from stagnation.

While Taurus seeks stability, Uranus disrupts whatever has become stagnant, rigid, or overly attached to comfort. People may be feeling caught between craving safety and sensing that old structures can no longer support who they are becoming.

But Taurus is not truly about rigidity. It's about resilience... nature itself teaches us this.

The forest bends in the wind, the river changes course and the Earth constantly dies and regenerates. Real stability is not control, but adaptability rooted in self-trust.

Uranus Square the Nodes | The Karmic Turning Point

At the same time, Uranus in Gemini continues to square the Nodes of the Moon in Virgo and Pisces, emphasizing the karmic nature of the mental, emotional, and spiritual patterns being activated now. This is about the stories we tell ourselves, the narratives we repeat, the assumptions we make, the way we communicate, he way we interpret information and the way we try to understand, categorize, analyze, fix, or control what life is asking us to surrender into.

With Uranus in Gemini, the mind is being disrupted. Old thought patterns may suddenly feel too small. Conversations may catalyze unexpected realizations and information may arrive that changes the way we see a situation.

With the Nodes in Virgo and Pisces, we are being asked to find a new balance between discernment and surrender. Virgo teaches us to refine, organize, analyze, and pay attention to what is practical and grounded. Pisces teaches us to soften, trust, dissolve, forgive, and open ourselves to the mystery. But in their shadow, Virgo can become hypercritical, controlling, perfectionistic, and overly attached to certainty, while Pisces can become escapist, porous, confused, or overly idealistic. This square asks us to notice where we are trying to mentally control something that is asking for trust. And where we are calling something “surrender” when we are actually avoiding discernment. It asks:

Where are my mental narratives keeping me stuck? Where am I being too open, too porous, or too willing to believe a fantasy? Where am I being too rigid, too skeptical, or too afraid to trust life?

Whatever is surfacing now is not random. Uranus square the Nodes has a way of jolting us out of old timelines through sudden insights, unexpected conversations, disruptive truths, and shifts in perception. It can feel destabilizing, but it can also be liberating... because once we see the pattern clearly, we are no longer as bound to it.

This is part of the deeper medicine of this Taurus New Moon. To ground the mind back into the body, practice discernment without closing out hearts and to practice surrender without abandoning ourselves...to become steady enough within ourselves that we can stay open to change without being swept away by it.

Venus, Mars & Chiron | Healing Through Desire

Taurus’ ruling planet Venus moves through the later degrees of Gemini, forming supportive aspects to the final conjunction between Mars and Chiron in Aries. This final Mars-Chiron conjunction is deeply significant. It illuminates wounds connected to self-assertion, instinct, confidence, anger, sexuality, leadership, desire, and our willingness to pursue what we truly want.

Old insecurities may feel especially activated now. Fear of rejection, of failure, of being “too much,”of asking for more, and fear of being seen fully in our desire. For many, this transit may bring opportunities to heal through courageous movement. By speaking honestly, setting boundaries, taking risks, following instinct and moving toward desire even when vulnerability arises alongside it.

Aries reminds us that instinct is sacred and Venus harmonizing with this conjunction softens the process, reminding us that desire itself is not something shameful to suppress. Often, what we long for reveals where life is trying to move through us.

Venus Square Neptune | Fantasy, Projection & Discernment

At the same time, Venus approaches a square to Neptune in Aries, exact on May 22nd. This energy can feel deeply romantic, creative, spiritual, and inspiring... but it can also blur the line between intuition and projection.

We may idealize people and we may become attached to potential rather than what is actually being shown to us. This transit can amplify longing, but the Taurus New Moon will remind us to stay grounded enough to discern what is real. To listen not only to fantasy, but to the body. Does something feel safe? Sustainable? Reciprocal? Aligned? Or are we trying to escape ourselves through longing, fantasy, or external validation? This is especially important because Taurus is ultimately connected to value. Not just what we desire... but what we believe we deserve.

Jupiter in Cancer | Emotional Expansion & Tenderness

Meanwhile, Jupiter in Cancer forms a square to the Mars-Chiron conjunction, amplifying emotional sensitivity and exposing the deeper emotional roots beneath our current triggers.

Cancer reminds us that beneath anger often lives grief... beneath defensiveness often lives fear and beneath hyper-independence often lives unmet emotional needs.

This transit may feel emotionally overwhelming at times, but it also creates enormous potential for healing through compassion, vulnerability, and emotional honesty. We are not being asked to become fearless, but to be more conscious of what fear has been protecting.

A Return to the Goddess Within

Ultimately, this Taurus New Moon feels like an invitation to reconnect with the sacred feminine principles that Taurus and Venus embody so beautifully: Receptivity. Embodiment. Pleasure. Self-worth. Slowness. Sensuality. Connection to nature. Trust in cyclical timing. All as lived experiences within the body.

This is part of why this lunation feels so aligned with the energy behind the free Awakening the Goddess online journey Bianca from Affirmative Healing and I are currently offering (on Wed. May 13). Because before we can truly embody abundance, magnetism, fertility, softness, creativity, or feminine radiance… we often need to untangle the nervous system patterns that taught us it was unsafe to receive them.

This Taurus New Moon reminds us that healing happens through learning how to soften enough to receive what has been trying to reach us all along. To slow down enough to hear the wisdom of the body, to reconnect with the Earth, to tend carefully to what we are growing, to trust that even when nothing appears to be happening above the surface… life is still moving underneath. The seed is already becoming the flower.

Where is 25 degrees Taurus in my chart? How does this relate to what's coming up for me?

What old stories around worthiness, abundance, or love am I ready to release?

Where am I being asked to trust myself more deeply instead of controlling the outcome?

What desire keeps returning to me lately… and what fears arise when I imagine fully claiming it?

Where do I need more discernment in my life right now? And where do I need more softness?

Embodiment Practice | Planting a Seed

Taurus reminds us that growth happens slowly, organically, and in relationship with the Earth. For this New Moon, choose a seed, herb, flower, or small plant to place into soil as a symbolic ritual of intention and embodiment.

Before planting, take a few slow breaths with your hands on your heart and belly. Reflect on what you are ready to release in order to create more space for stability, self-worth, abundance, softness, or alignment in your life. Allow it to fall away into the Earth.

As you place the seed into the Earth, speak one intention aloud for what you want to nurture. Then gently cover the seed with soil and water it slowly. Let this ritual remind you that not all growth is immediately visible... some of the most important transformations happen quietly beneath the surface before anything blooms.
