Full Moon in Virgo: Uniting Body & Mind

The Sun & Moon oppose at 5 degrees Virgo & Pisces at 7:30pm EST on February 24, bringing to culmination the last lunar cycle of the astrological year. Arriving just a few days into Pisces season, this earthy full moon brings our attention to finding balance between order and chaos.

As Mercury enters Pisces shortly before this lunation, meeting up with the Sun & Saturn, this opposition also illuminates the need to find balance between logic and intuition. With Saturn highlighted, energy might be tough to come by at this time. Just remember that the purest diamonds are formed under immense pressure.

With Chiron (considered by many astrologers to be the ruler of Virgo) still activated by the North Node in Aries, we are invited to find our inner courage and connect to our inner wounded healer by transforming pain into purpose.

If you have personal planets around 0-15 degrees of the mutable signs (Virgo, Pisces, Sagittarius, Gemini), this energy will be impacting you quite personally. Find out if this is you by signing up to the Lunar Alchemy Collective, where you’ll get full access to this article and instructions on pulling up your chart & learning how the energy is affecting you. If not, you will still be affected by this energy wherever you have these degrees in your chart.

Virgo, symbolized by the virgin or maiden archetype, is possibly one of the most misunderstood in astrology. As the Virgo glyph (♍) is represented by an “m” with a tail (the serpent or shakti energy turned inward), it symbolizes the transmutation of sexual or creative energy into spiritual energy through devotion to Self. This archetype is deeply associated with refinement of the Self and giving of the Self through sacred work. This is why those with prominent Virgo energy are so good at practicing discernment - the ability to see inefficiencies; what is working and what isn’t.

As an earth sign traditionally ruled by Mercury, Virgo represents the alchemization of air (thought, information) into matter. Ruling over the digestive system, Virgo is the assimilator of the zodiac - processing & distilling down chaos into order At the same time, the shadow of this energy is not being able to see the forest for the trees, crippling perfectionism, control issues and the tendency to only think in black or white.

On the other end of the spectrum - Pisces, represented by the fish, knows no boundaries. The fish are great at going with the flow, but not staying still. They teach us to surrender to the flow of life & trust that we are being guided by something greater than ourselves.  To have trust in the divine timing of life, and to embrace the divinity within ourselves. To recognize that chaos always precedes order - and although it may not seem like it at times, everything does in fact have a divine order. Nothing is by coincidence.

As the last sign of the zodiac, the Sun’s journey through Pisces always represents a completion time, the final death before the rebirth (in Spring/Aries season).

Symbolized by two fish held together by a cord, Pisces represents the human & divine form of us, unable to be separated from one another, always entwined.  It rules the lymphatic system, and the feet in medical astrology, so this is a time to stimulate our lymphatic system and detox all that we do not wish to carry forward with us into the New Year.
