Aquarius Full Moon: Standing Tall

There are moments when we can feel the future beginning to arrive before we have language for what is changing... A conversation shifts something inside us, a person appears at precisely the right moment, an idea we have been carrying suddenly feels possible. A door opens... or closes... and although we may not yet understand why, we sense that life is rearranging itself around us.

The Aquarius Full Moon on July 29th arrives as a foreshadowing - the final Full Moon before eclipse season officially begins (on August 12th). The lunar nodes have just shifted from the Pisces–Virgo axis into Aquarius-Leo, beginning an entirely new eighteen-month collective story. Meanwhile, the Sun is meeting Jupiter in Leo as part of the rare planetary configuration known as Barbault’s Basket, while the Moon sits beside Pluto in Aquarius.

There is a lot of energy here. Expansion, intensity, revelation and the sense that something larger is trying to move through us. Yet despite the presence of Pluto and Chiron, this Full Moon doesn’t feel inherently ominous. It feels hopeful... but honest. Like an invitation to meet the future without abandoning the parts of ourselves that still need to be witnessed, healed and brought into the light.

The Leo–Aquarius Axis

Every Full Moon illuminates a polarity, and this one brings us into the relationship between Leo and Aquarius... between the individual and the collective, the heart and the mind, personal creativity and collective evolution.

Leo asks us to know who we are and to have the courage to express it. It rules creativity, play, pleasure, performance and the vulnerable act of letting ourselves be seen. Leo reminds us that there is something sacred about becoming fully ourselves... not because we are more special than anyone else, but because life cannot express itself through us when we are constantly editing who we are to remain acceptable.

Aquarius asks us to consider what our individuality is in service to. It rules community, innovation, liberation and the visions that carry humanity beyond its current limitations. Aquarius understands that none of us creates in isolation. Our ideas are shaped through relationship, our healing happens in connection and the future is something we build together.

At their healthiest, these archetypes need one another. Aquarius can envision a more liberated world, but Leo gives that vision a beating heart. Leo can shine brightly, but Aquarius reminds us that our gifts become most meaningful when they contribute to something larger than ourselves.

This Full Moon is not asking us to choose between being ourselves and belonging. It is asking whether we can belong without abandoning ourselves... and whether we can shine without needing our light to diminish anyone else’s.

Aquarius Full Moon: A New Collective Story Begins

Only days before this Full Moon, the North Node entered Aquarius and the South Node entered Leo, shifting us out of the Pisces–Virgo lessons we have been moving through since January 2025.

The previous nodal cycle asked us to examine the relationship between surrender and control, intuition and analysis, the mystical and the mundane. Now, our collective attention begins moving toward the relationship between personal identity and collective evolution.

With the South Node in Leo, we may be asked to release the shadow expressions of this archetype: the need for constant validation, the pressure to perform, the belief that leadership must revolve around a single charismatic figure or the fear that we will disappear if we are no longer the centre of the story.

But the South Node does not mean that Leo is bad or that we must stop expressing ourselves. We need healthy Leo to reach the North Node in Aquarius... we need the courage to create, speak and reveal who we are before we can offer our gifts to the collective.

The invitation is not to stop shining, but to stop believing that shining requires comparison.

Aquarius asks us to become more interested in contribution than recognition, collaboration than competition and the creation of spaces in which more people can be fully themselves. It reminds us that community is not built through conformity. True community does not require us to dilute our individuality... it creates enough space for our differences to coexist.

The last time the North Node moved through Aquarius and the South Node through Leo was from late 2007 into 2009. The most recent activation of this axis occurred from 2017–2018, but in reverse, with the North Node in Leo and South Node in Aquarius. You may want to consider what was happening in your life during those periods. Who were you becoming? Where did you belong? What communities, relationships or creative identities were beginning or ending? The story will not repeat itself exactly, but it may return with new characters, new circumstances and a new opportunity to respond.

Pluto and the Truth Beneath the Performance

The Full Moon reaches its peak at 6° Aquarius, close to Pluto, bringing intensity and emotional depth to what might otherwise feel like a light, visionary lunation. Pluto brings us into the shadows. It reveals the unconscious patterns beneath our choices, the fears beneath our identities and the places where we have given away our power. Beside the Aquarius Moon, Pluto may illuminate the ways we have hidden parts of ourselves in order to remain accepted by a group... or the ways we have performed individuality while secretly longing for belonging.

Aquarius is often associated with the future, but Pluto reminds us that we cannot build a genuinely new future from the same unconscious patterns that created the past. Something may become impossible to ignore beneath this Full Moon. We may recognize that an identity we have maintained no longer feels honest, that a community requires us to shrink or that our desire to be seen has become tangled with the need to prove our worth.

Pluto brings things into the light so that transformation can occur. Its presence makes this Full Moon powerful, but it also offers us the courage to tell ourselves the truth... and to reclaim the parts of ourselves we once believed were too intense, strange, inconvenient or different to belong.

Dandelion Medicine: Resilience, Worthiness and the Wounded Healer

The plant ally I pulled for this Full Moon was Dandelion... a plant connected with both Jupiter and Chiron, two important energies within this lunation. Dandelions are easy to overlook. They grow through cracks in sidewalks, root themselves in disturbed soil and return even after being pulled apart. They do not wait for perfect conditions or ask permission to take up space. They find the light available to them and keep growing toward it.

This is not the kind of resilience that asks us to deny our wounds or romanticize the conditions that created them. Chiron represents the wound that cannot simply be erased... but which can become a source of wisdom, empathy and medicine. The Sun and Moon square Chiron in Taurus during this Full Moon, potentially revealing wounds connected to worthiness, safety, the body, receiving and our fundamental belief that we deserve to exist as we are.

We may be confronted with the fear of being truly seen. We may recognize where we are still waiting to feel more qualified, healed, beautiful, successful or certain before allowing ourselves to take up space. Chiron may touch the tender place that wonders, Who am I to do this? Who am I to want this? Who am I to believe that my gifts have value?

But Chiron is not the only voice speaking... Jupiter is sitting beside the Sun in Leo, expanding our capacity for confidence, creativity, joy and belief. Jupiter does not demand perfection before offering possibility. It asks us to trust that life may be larger and more generous than the wounded parts of us have learned to expect.

Like the dandelion, we do not have to be untouched by life in order to keep reaching toward it. Our wounds do not disqualify us from joy, visibility, love or contribution. Sometimes the places where we have struggled most profoundly become the places from which we offer our deepest medicine.

Healing beneath this Full Moon may look less like standing tall in the person we have already become.

Jupiter, Barbault’s Basket and the Capacity to Receive

The Sun’s conjunction with Jupiter in Leo forms part of Barbault’s Basket... the rare planetary configuration connecting Jupiter in Leo, Uranus in Gemini, Neptune in Aries and Pluto in Aquarius.

A basket is a container - it gathers, carries and holds what has been harvested. This feels especially significant after the themes of containment and capacity that emerged during Cancer season. We can call in expansion, love, opportunity and abundance... but we also need the internal structure required to receive and sustain what arrives?

Barbault’s Basket speaks to the larger cultural and creative changes unfolding around us, but it may also describe the personal structures we are creating now. The ideas we are developing, the communities we are gathering and the dreams we are tending may not have fully materialized yet, but that does not mean nothing is happening. We may simply be weaving the container capable of holding the future we have asked for.

With Jupiter beside the Leo Sun and Uranus - the modern ruler of Aquarius - participating in this configuration, developments may happen quickly or arrive in forms we did not anticipate. Something that has felt dormant may suddenly begin moving. An unexpected conversation may lead to an opportunity. A disruption may reveal a path we could not previously see.

This energy is supportive, but it is not necessarily predictable. We are being asked to believe in possibility without becoming overly attached to the form it takes.

Entering the Eclipse Portal

This is the final Full Moon before the Leo Solar Eclipse on August 12th, but eclipse stories rarely wait for the eclipse itself. We are already entering the portal. Eclipse seasons can accelerate timelines, create sudden openings and bring people or experiences into our lives that feel strangely significant. Meetings may feel fated. Invitations may appear unexpectedly. Plans may change without warning. Things that have been quietly unfolding beneath the surface can become visible almost overnight.

Not every encounter is destined to last forever, but that does not make it meaningless. Some people arrive to activate a dormant part of us. Some opportunities exist to redirect us rather than become permanent destinations, and some endings create the space required for a future we could not yet imagine.

Pay attention to what begins moving now... but resist the urge to immediately define it. Aquarius asks us to remain open to possibilities beyond what we have already experienced, while Pluto asks us to remain honest about what is actually being revealed. The future may be arriving, but we do not need to chase it.

Embodiment Practice | Standing Tall

This Full Moon invites us to notice where we collapse physically and energetically... where we round our shoulders, hold our breath, lower our gaze or make ourselves smaller without realizing it.

Begin by rooting your feet into the earth. Soften your knees and allow your spine to lengthen upward, imagining space opening between every vertebra. Let your shoulders settle away from your ears as your heart gently lifts. Reach through the crown of your head without becoming rigid, feeling the simultaneous relationship between grounding and expansion.

As you move, explore shapes that allow you to take up space: expansive lunges, open-hearted backbends, standing balances or wide, sweeping movements through the arms. Notice what arises when you let yourself become taller, broader and more visible. Where does your body hesitate? Where do you feel strong? Where can you create more space without forcing?

Imagine the dandelion... deeply rooted, resilient and continually reaching toward the light.

If possible, practise with other people. Take a class, move beside a friend, dance in community or simply share an honest conversation with someone who makes space for your full expression. Aquarius reminds us that healing does not only happen alone. Sometimes we learn to stand taller because another person witnesses us without asking us to shrink.

And beneath this Full Moon, the future we are being asked to create is one in which our individuality is not sacrificed for belonging, our wounds do not prevent us from offering medicine and our light becomes part of something much larger than ourselves.
